Its amazing how things come together, we’ve had a customer come in to the store wanting prosthetic nipples. She has had a double mastectomy followed by breast re-construction, a total of five operations. The sixth operation would be to shape nipples and she just couldn’t face one more procedure. I can certainly understand her feelings there.

Then this morning I saw an article about a tattoo artist in America who specialises in tattooing nipples onto women who have had re-constructive surgery. The plastic surgeons can make a nipple shape but can’t alter the skin colour. This amazing man tattoos an edge and colour so the nipple looks very real and natural. Post re-constructive surgery the alternative to having the nipple re-shaped is what our customer is wanting, a silicone nipple. They look very natural and are made to be glued onto the breast. As you can see from the photo they come in a few different styles.

At Cozzies we cater for ladies requiring post mastectomy swimwear. Many different styles including Tankini’s, Bikini’s and One Piece.

We also stock Amoena swim breast forms, these are made of silicone and therefore do not absorb water when swimming.

Anyone of us could have to face the prospect of major surgery or cancer. We are lucky to live in an era where not only are these products available but the medical procedures are in place to give us a second chance.
